Industrial Surface Grinders are Economical and Efficient
If you are looking for a low maintenance surface grinder, then you have found your companion in the K.O. Lee model KOL-820/2A supplied by LeBlond Ltd. Click here to see the complete product description and downloadable PDF.
The grinding spindle on the machine (what the grinding wheel mounts to to grind the part flat) is greased and free of maintenance. “The spindle is lubed on assembly and that’s all it needs,” says LeBlond Ltd. Customer Service Representative John Cook.
The table of the K.O. Lee Surface Grinder features an automatic lubrication system. There is a pump that lubricates on all slideways and leadscrew, ensuring smooth travel and minimizing wear. LeBlond Ltd. suggests that customers replace the filter on the lube pump every 2,000 hours or annually for a standard eight-hour shift that your shop is operating.
The table of the K.O. Lee Surface Grinder is driven left and right on the X-axis by a hydraulic pump system. The hydraulics needs to be oiled and the filter replaced, like the lube pump oil filter, every 2,000 hours. Contact LeBlond Ltd. at (888) 532-5663 for oil and replacement filters for the lube pump and hydraulics system.
Surface grinders generate a great deal of dust, so the machine needs to be wiped down periodically. If you purchased an add-on coolant tank for your surface grinder, you can wash down the machine with the water-soluble coolant fluid. Otherwise, you can just use a wet rag to keep it clean.
Basically, all you have to do with K.O. Lee High Precision Surface Grinder is place it in the hub of activity on your machine shop floor, oil it semi-regularly and keep it clean. “They are very simple machines,” Cook adds.
Simple but effective … fans of low-maintenance machine tools will be happy!
